Western Veterinary Acupuncture
It is easy to think of acupuncture as a strange process based on old fashioned superstitions and misconceptions. Over the last few years, the scientific basis of it has shown that there are measurable changes in physical responses to acupuncture. Ongoing research is continuing to build evidence of this as it gradually becomes more mainstream and is less commonly thought of as an odd Chinese tradition.
Veterinary acupuncture was originally based on the human version, but it is rapidly developing its own place. Acupuncture is now considered an important part of the pain control package offered by veterinary practices. Sarah has always been keen to have as many options for pain relief for our patients as possible. As we all know, what suits one individual may not suit another and acupuncture is no exception.
Some animals respond very well and show a significant improvement after their first session, others may take a few sessions to show improvement, and some may not respond at all. There are always a few who are too stressed visiting the vet or are needle phobic which outweighs any advantage of having an acupuncture session.
What we do is book up to 3 sessions lasting 30 to 45 minutes. Each session costs £35. We can assess response to acupuncture during and after this session and plan any future sessions from there.
Please call the surgery on 01227 367232 to arrange your first session.
